Ask Boy Toy: Music/Fashion Update Edition

Interview with LeblancNation (LeblancLuvsU.Blogspot.com)

1. So what have you been up to lately with The Factory?

I just wrote three songs and completed the beats as well. They will be a part of my next mixtape "The Boy Toy Factory: Chronicles of FuckU" they show growth production wise, lyrically and my delivery will be even more outspoken. The songs are very personal compared to my last project...ive been through alot and my music is starting to become a reflection of it. One of the tracks entitled "Bi-Polar Love Affair (lLoveU But FuckU) chronicals a very extreme conflicting roller coaster of a relationship. Another is "SuperFreak" Which is about random things that make me who i am and what i am interested in as well as how people perceive me...as a Freak and how i Dont give a Fuck. Lyrics and beats are done. I cant wait to start recording them once i get some studio time.

In terms of fashion, Of course my favorite accents are various forms of metal. Im also taking more advantage of the use of mirrors to adhere even more to fashions vain perception. People are going to be looking in the mirror...while drenched in them lol. Mirrors also can reveal others. So you cant hide from yourself nor can others. Everyones exposed! In all honesty tho an over load of vanity and ego makes me gag (in a bad way) My mirror fixation is more of a ploy on reflection in itself. Some people look in the mirror to be vain and obsesses' others look in the mirror to be Harsh and obsesses... I want more people to look in the physical and spiritual mirror and see the beauty they posses as well as things they would like to improve on..Like the Michael Jackson song. "Man in the Mirror" Make that muthafuckin change : ) It starts with you...what do you see when you look in the mirror?

2. Tell us a bit about the BTFA brand you have developed and where its been?

It came from one of the many rooms in my personal Disco Dungeon...which grew darker with age. But early on, I loved to dance in the darkness of my grandmothers basement with subtle strobe lights' mirrors and fog. I loved to listen to and or perform music while working on my fashion creations. The things I created were mainly just for myself to wear because I could never find things I envisioned in my head at store. When I did find similar things in stores I usually couldn't afford it. So I decided to bring the images to life myself and that all started at an early age like 2nd grade. As I got older and more sophisticated and fashion forward and as the dawn of the generation that appreciates eccentricities my stuff started to get alot more positive attention and i was constantly asked hey where d you get that I like it! It's hot! So then I said "Oook, I am a 'starving artist' let me make a website and start selling my pieces." So that's what I did....although, I still am very much a starving artist! I've invested so much but I'm working on my connections and constant promotion to really gain the exposure and credentials I need to turn The Boy Toy Factory into a Forbes Top 40 brand. People can have their opinions and doubts but That goal WILL be reached...because I am determined and because I said so!(laughs to himself)

3. How does your craft differ now from when you first launched BTFA?
Im still in my first launch! (laughs to himself)

4. Since a lot of creative people in the industry of Fashion specifically within accessories are going for dark looks, studded looks and cutting edge design; how do you fill Boy Toy sets the BTFA standard at a different level than most of these "couture" designers?

I was inspired by alot of fashion icons of yesteryear. Specifically through my love of music i became obsessed with fashion, i was always so interested in the things that Michael Jackson' Prince' Rick James, The Sex Pistols, David Bowie,Grace Jones' Madonna and many others wore add that on top of my chronic depression as a child and love for superheros...I was one dark lonely androgynous imaginative child. And my fashion has typically always been a reflection of those influences, although i would would go through brief phases when i would conform for the sake of me not wanting to be bothered or harassed. To my knowledge as i know some of the other "dark' designers either personally or through research alot of them either jazz up the meaning to their fashion or it is clearly just following a trend. This dark thing is nothing new but it is re surging and i am trying to transform it and make my insubordinate vision of the future become a standard in fashion and not trend. I want the world to just be more comfortable in being comfortable in waring whatever the hell they feel express who they are best and not give two chicken fucks about whether OTHER people like it or not simply because....
"Those who mid dont matter, and Those that Matter Dont Mind" -Dr.Suess

5. What is your definition of "couture"?

My definition of Couture is : An overly used and abused word that most people dont know the root of and now has many different meanings...infact it now can be attached to anything.
Now and days its a fancy word for Fashion rather then just Haute High Fashion. Ive developed the habit of attaching it to everything myself. I actually just got done having the most exquisite Couture bacon and eggs you can imagine. Yummm!!

6. When a viewer comes to your site, the instantly see your "Best Of" video with performances as well as hear your music; what is the future of music for Boy Toy? What projects are you working on now to get your second mix tape out?
LeBlanc you're late! I answered that in question one IN short essay form! C'mon now get with it! (laughs to himself again)

7. Any final words for LeBlanc Nation?

....Like what though....Thats so vague of a question I'm such a literal person...any last words can turn into a drawn out non fiction novel or something with me! Why'd you have to ask that, now I'm sitting here trying to determine what and if I have any more words but it's taking me forever because I'm in literary mode and you did not specify the subject!!!! I enjoyed answering these questions and think you're doing it big!...there is that what you wanted to hear? I hope so cause I could go on longer! Actually I have some couture water boiling for my tea that i must tend too. Ciao!

There You Have it.

ADVENTURES OF BOY TOY: MAKINGS OF A SUPERFREAK

"SuperFreak (They Dont Understand)":
Written by (The Boy Toy) Richard Tyreak Gathers
Off of the up coming BoyToyFactory: RoBot Wars LP

I have an issue with authority
Arrogance, hypocrisy
Political Correctness
Fitting in Society
An Interest in psychology
Pop culture, Modeling
Sketching and designing
Fashion is inspiring
They put me in a category
They say that imma super freak
they say im too provocative
but that my prerogative
They say that imma SuperFreak
cause they dont understand

Me Me Me

I must be a SuperFreak
Cause they dont understand

Me Me Me

A flare for photography
music is the air i breath
theatrics are a part of me
im critical of certain things
sometimes i over think
and i tend to worry
i have bad eyes but imma visionary
Artistic thoughts provoke creativity
I am from the projects
but the projects didn't raise me
im street smart
with an extended vocabulary
(And what mutha fucka)

My favorite color is black
throw in some metallic
I am logical yet mellow dramatic
I think sex is overrated even tho im great at it
I get a kick from masturbating
and making art of it
people wanna judge me as if they are perfect
but i have faith in god and all his judgment

They say that imma SuperFreak
cause they dont understand

Me Me Me

I must be a SuperFreak
Cause they dont understand

Me Me Me

I can be emotional or ice cold
I have high standards let the truth be told
cant stand fake people they go on my shit list
I am open minded but only to an extent
Society and PC is all bullshit to me
yet somehow someway
it still has a hold on me
but not enough for me to go against
what i believe
When u are a guy like me
fitting in society
isn't an easy thing
but that doesn't stop me
from being who i wanna be
pursuing my destiny
yeah i do crazy things
out of the ordinary
My names Tyreak and yes imma Freak

They say that imma SuperFreak
cause they dont understand me
I live on the earth
but i am my own reality
these are all things
just random things about me
(The SuperFreak)
I must be a SuperFreak
something like an animal
straight from the zoo
an outspoken cannibal
from the way they stop and stare
you'd think im supernatural
(The SuperFreak)
But i dont give a what what
I just dont give a what what
I Dont Give a Fuck

I live my life unconcerned with you
but ur concerned with me?

ASK BOY TOY: COLLEGE PAPER INTERVIEW EDITION

In August of '09 a college student sent me a message via myspace asking
if she could interview me for her college paper in which had to be someone that serves as an object of fascination to them, she chose me : )
Her questions were pretty bold and pervish in a way (lol).
But she asked a few questions in regards to sex that im SURE some would also like to know.

Original Post Date August 15th 2009 on myspace Blogs:
http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=251937582&blogId=505694158

Interview with Ms.Steele

1. Boy Toy what inspired you to create music?

Music is a soundtrack for life, it ranges in every emotion, it can take you places out of this world and can also keep you grounded on earth, i just love the versatile power music has over human emotion & interaction, it brings people together. Dance and eccentricities are two foundations for my up coming release "The Boy Toy Factory" its packed with a lot of attitude but the subject matter isn't as intense as it will be in the future...Its basically one part of the Factory, the others will be revealed in time.

2. What inspired to create these adult themed videos?
I was a 21 and virgin when i recorded my first video of that nature, as a means of sexual emancipation, it was also a statement saying yeah im a 21 year old virgin but im still a sexual being just like everyone else,Plus i think traditional pornography is good for beating off i guess, but not much else, My video serves an artistic yet seductive purpose which stimulates more then your sex organs. i also wanted to contribute in making male "self love" less of a taboo in our society...Americans can be so hypocritical...we all are human and we all have a human body under our clothes, im not forcing anyone to look at my nature, if you don't want to see it, don't look at it, its that simple.

3. What are your favorite pastimes/hobbies?

In no particular order Writing , sketching , painting , reading, acting, dancing, singing, rapping , masturbating, photography , designing , thinking , modeling ,being cynical, GTA4, socializing , learning , teaching, ranting lol.....

4. If you could meet anyone in the world dead or alive who would it be?

Jesus Christ....if he's busy then M.j.

5. If you were stranded on an island what would be the three items you would take with you?

A GPS, A Boat, and Instructions for operation

6. Boxer's or briefs? =D

It depends....if im wearing baggy jeans most of the time i wear boxers with them, if im wearing more fitted jeans i most likely will have on briefs.

7. Pepsi or cola?

Pepsi....but i prefer not to drink soda...especially dark soda

8. Do you have a favorite celebrity or is it all about the Boy Toy?

Ummm im definitely not that self absorbed, i don't have a single favorite tho. i can never name just one.

9. I've read online that you are straight, but you like the gay lifestyle, what about it attracts you to it?

I dont acknowledge or publicly define my sexuality anymore, i decided to keep a speculation about it,
I was introduced to it (the lifestyle) towards my 20th bday...as an artist and person into fashion and Baltimore club music which is similar to house, and a natural open mind. Although at first hesitant i ended up embracing it, Not all aspects of course but in terms of being artistically...enlightened i gained a lot . My best friend Tiana is one of those girls that loves gay people and i wasn't able to go out to a gay populated setting with out her for a while, im guessing it was an insecurity but now its like what is there to be insecure about really? i know what i like and i know what my intentions per social experience are so don't be surprised if you see me at a gay club, just don't expect me to be dancing with no dude...Or maybe u can ha ha!
I actually like that fact that I choose to no longer acknowledge my sexuality

(UPDATE 2010: At least not in a Politically/Socially correct way, Im creating my own personal definition,of my sexuality and i call it Mental-Sexual. The beauty of being an individual is the ability to define oneself...truthfully and more precisely then the generalization simple minded society loves to partake in...i mean i could be less "complicated" BUT...i choose not too hahaha!)

Im The Boy Toy im here to entertain, Part of my image is that mystery....its quite obvious i get down with females but i like to do things to throw people off sometimes and make them wonder, people are overly concerned with the matter of gay or straight and i find entertainment in that, its funny. But i will say this, i dont like penis...i like mine tho! : ) a ha ha!

10. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

10 years? ill be 33...i would want to start settling down at that point, have some kids, by that time i see myself having accomplished much of what im aspiring to accomplish today, so i should be very financially and emotionally secure by then and be able to provide for my family

11. Who taught you how to dance?

I taught myself through watching other dancers, local people around my block and the likes of Michael Jackson, James Brown and such. I would just re in-act what i saw, put my own spin on it, eventually was able to come up with my own moves just by getting lost in the music.

12. Now i know flavamen/flavaworks asked you to work with, why did you refuse? and if given the chance to do something solo, would you do it?

I refused because they wanted me to have sex with other men....originally i was interested in making some money doing the solo thing but they wouldn't agree to let me have creative control and let me do it in true Boy Toy fashion so that was that. It just wasn't for me.

13. would you ever consider doing a show with a man, something that doesn't involve sex, something like what the guys at circlejerkboys.com do?

Um no not like that website you mentioned...i never even heard of it but i know what a circle jerk is and that's not my cup of tea.

14. Say you didn't mind working with a man in your explicit videos, if you could work with a male celebrity who would it be and why?

Lol, geez Ms.Steele are you one of those girls that gets turned on by gay porn?
lol, um if i ever wanted to get that homo erotic i would want to do a video with two of me, like pink in the sober video, that was fucking hot.

ORIGINS OF BOY TOY

(I think i was thinking of how saddened i was to be wearing pastel blue fleece with a white teddy bear, rather then a black matte leather ripped underwear, eyeliner and random pieces of metal…hence the expression on my face, a picture says a thousand words lol)
What is a Boy Toy? is it a young man that is
considered a sexual object?….For the most part
Yes…yes it is. But what and who is THE Boy Toy?
The answer is much more complex. The Boy Toy can be
anything you want him to be,He is versatility, but
he choses to who he wants to be.
“Im an artist with a heavy sexual presence
but i play many different roles in my artistic endeavors,
having the versatility of an something like an action figure that can transform
into almost anything, the public gets to witness it, but im in control of it.”
The Bronx,New York
isn’t only the birthplace of hip hop,
On September 15th,1986 it was also
the birthplace of The Boy Toy,Tyreak.
He has lived in many
parts of the bronx but grew up in Edenwald and
Parkchester projects.
He experienced constant exposure to crime, violence
drugs and thug mentality, luckily he never fell to
deep into anything messy. But growing up in those
areas
did teach him alot on how he didn’t want his life
to turn out like.
Growing up he had no
real male or female influence in his life, and was
quite alone socially, so pop culture and theory
became his best friend. “I would listen and
sing to music, read, write and enlighten myself on
things that I didn’t understand about the world
and by doing this i basically became his own
psychologist.” Tyreak matured in a way that enabled
him to be extremely open minded and determined he
already had a natural knack for the art of
sketching, paint, music ,writing and dance but his
curiosity for understanding different parts of the
human psyche allowed him to appreciate just about
all forms of art including the art of photography,
fashion and modeling.
All of which he incorporates into his videos and
performances.
Tyreak has been posing and performing since he
could walk, often imitating the likes of michael
jackson, Prince and Rick James. His moves would attract
attention from who ever caught a glimpse, although
the attention was great, Tyreak was just doing what
came natural to him,but in 2004 he decided to take
all of his bottled up talent that until then was
mostly just seen by himself in the mirror and
reflect it for the rest of the world to see.
He was ready to take the world by storm, he knew a
9 to 5 wasn’t for him,entertaining was what he
loved. So the day after he got his diploma he was
on the plane to hollywood…and was a starving
artist for a few months, needless to say cali wasn’t
a success, so he moved back to Ny and got a 9 to
5,doing data entry. He realized he needed a plan.
Tyreak soon realized all of the possibilities and
networking opportunities the Internet had,and used
it to its fullest potential.
He knew the best way to get attention was to take
whats hot at the moment and make it his own.
Ciara,Usher,Beyonce,Chris Brown,and Snap music were
all the hot commodities, and those were the artist
he would do videos to, he did them well and got
plenty of views.
Tyreak was enjoying his popularity on the
Internet but had bigger and better planss and was
desperate to show that he is not
only an inciting dancer but full on entertainer.
It took him a long while to acquire resources to
record his music but once he did.
Tyreak then made a trippy club instrumental and
wrote accompanied lyrics. Inspired by all things
random Crash N Smash was created. heavy
electronic house mixed with hip hop and grimy
lyrics and an oddly seductive horror theme.
It was his first recorded track and set the tone
for the others.
Dynamic and outside the Box. “The Boy Toy Factory”
is not for the faint at heart or close minded, but
for those that love the club. Heavy
electronic futuristic house music with a twist of
hip hop and R & B, Tyreak’s High
energy,explicit,edgy,free spirited,sometimes
twisted,no holds barred lyrical,production,delivery
and performance style is sure to be an experience
like no other. Some have said its A healthy legal
alternative to an ecstasy pill with out all the bad
side effects.
“Most of my material i have produced, arranged and
engineered myself, on a laptop. Its basically a
club theme album but its not typical, its very
aggressive but also seductive,edgy,risky,and
graphic but its actually just a portion of the
Factory as whole And i have plenty more songs
written, alot of the ones that i have written but
not recorded yet are alot more personal, much like
my blogs…they give more insight on my struggles
and philosophy. But im saving them for a future
project”
With a fanbase of a few thousand between myspace
and youtube. Tyreak hopes to one day soon shut the
mouths of the critics who says he will never be
able to go mainstream and take his exceptional
unique style above the underground But for now he
is is gearing up for a promotional bliss,Performing
at local clubs in the Baltimore/D.C. area as well
as N.Y. and ATL he plans to hit radio by the
summer.
The Boy Toy Take Over seems inevitable in the coming years,
The 22 year old has already accomplished more in the
entertainment industry then he may realize.
Writing,producing,recording,engineering,performing,
modeling,sketching,fashion design,
photography,acting,choreography,singing,rapping
directing, spoken word…and the list goes on…and
on. His few thousand fans will soon turn into
millions and in a world that seems to be ad-mist
Armageddon, he may be one of the worlds last icons.
Lets not forget…Its Boy Toy…Bitch
“The amount of emotion and thought a picture or
song can potentially provoke is so amazing. Pop
culture icons, independent artist and anyone who’s
been through something and became great, inspired
me to continue to live and pursue my dreams when i
had no one else,Music and fashion were always there
for me and I truly feel as long as I stay on my
grind I will be in the position to inspire others
to realize and pursue they’re dream not give up on
life either”
The Boy Toy
